Parking and Shuttle- 4 options
Because Nolte is a Washington State Park, a Discover Pass is required to park in their parking lot. If you plan to come to the park on Friday and park in the lot, you will need to display an annual Discover Pass or purchase a one-day pass at the park for $10. More about Discover Passes Here.
Option 1: Parking on race day: you can purchase a $10 Black Diamond Triathlon parking permit for race day during registration. If you purchase a parking permit for Saturday at Nolte State park, you will not be allowed to leave the lot until approx. 11:30 AM. No Discover Passes will be valid on race day.
PLEASE NOTE - absolutely no one will be permitted to drive out of the parking lot until the last bike has returned which we expect at around 11:30 AM. Cars parked on Veazie -Cumberland in the 'No Parking' areas will be towed prior to the race starting. No parking on 300th from Veazie-Cumberland to the bus drop off.
Option 2: Race Day Drop Off- drop offs can be made on 300th, which is one street south of the park. Head to the bend in the road and drop off just past the bend. There is a short trail that leads into the park. Please do not block the street for the shuttle bus.
Option 3: Ride your bike from the parking area in Cumberland to Nolte State Park. It is 1.5 miles away. Bring your gear in a backpack and warm up with a ride to the park. It will allow you more time at the park to pick up your packet and set up your transition spot. The parking will be the Cumberland Fire Station (35420 Veazie-Cumberland Road Enumclaw, WA).
Option 4: Parking will also be available in Cumberland - about 1.5 miles away - and a shuttle bus will be running throughout the day taking athletes, spectators, and volunteers to and from the park. To improve the flow of athletes to and from the park, we highly suggest that athletes bring their gear in a backpack and ride the 1.5 miles between the race venue and parking lot. While you can put your bike on the shuttle if necessary, the shuttle is best for spectators or athletes without a bike. The parking will be the Cumberland Fire Station (35420 Veazie-Cumberland Road Enumclaw, WA). The first shuttle will begin loading about 6:00 AM at the Fire Station. Bikes are allowed on the shuttle..
Relay Teams (Sprint and Olympic only)
Relay team must consist of at least two members (one person CANNOT compete in all three legs of a relay). A relay team will be assigned one bib number: the swimmer will pick up the swim cap and timing chip, the biker will pick up the bike number and helmet stickers and the runner will pick up the bib number. Relay teams will transfer the timing chip and ankle strap at their transition spot in the transition area. Relay members don’t have to stay in that area during the entire race, but you must transfer your chip there! All three relay members will receive a finisher medal. (Please have a team members come to the finish for their medals).
We’ll award the top-3 men and women of each race and pull them from the Age Group Results. Then the top-5 age-group finishers in the Sprint and Olympic and top-3-age group finishers in the Super Sprint in 5 year age groups will be awarded. (20-24, 25-29, etc.) Top 3 relays in the Sprint and Olympic will be awarded. See the schedule for the approximate time of the awards celebrations. All finishers will receive a medal.
Raise the Bar's Black Diamond Triathlon have an incredible resource of volunteers who support the athletes leading up to on race day. There are many athletes, family members, and community members that come out to help and we're grateful! They're easy to identify by their bright green shirt. If you or someone in your support crew would like to join them, please send an email to email@example.com. RTB Events will work to make sure they are placed into a position they enjoy and works with their schedule. And we will feed them a meal too!
During the race spectators can enjoy the beautiful Nolte State Park that has a swimming beach, child's play area (which will be open!) public restrooms, picnic tables, and a great race to watch! Spectators can enjoy a hot meal for a suggested donation of $5 a person - $10 a family. (registered athletes and volunteers eat for free). Lunch will start at about noon.
**Please remind your friends and family that only athletes are allowed in the transition area.
